Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 July 2026
Welcome — and What You're Agreeing To
WavyWays is a gentle wellness companion for building a kinder relationship with food and your body. These Terms are the agreement between you and us for using the WavyWays mobile app and the services inside it (together, “WavyWays” or “the app”).
By downloading, opening, or using WavyWays, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with them, that's okay — but please don't use the app.
We've tried to write these Terms the way we write everything else here: plainly, and without hiding anything. They work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your data.
What WavyWays Is — and What It Isn't
This is the most important thing on this page, so we want to be very clear about it.
WavyWays is a general wellness and self-help app. It offers gentle, game-like reflections and exercises for a kinder relationship with food and body. It is not a medical device, not a medical service, and not a substitute for professional care. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, and it does not give medical advice.
WavyWays is a companion, not a clinician. If you're working with a doctor, therapist, or other professional, please keep doing that — WavyWays is meant to sit gently alongside real care, never to replace it.
If you are in crisis or may be in danger, WavyWays is not the right tool. Please reach out to a qualified professional or your local emergency services right away — for example, call your local emergency number, or contact a crisis line in your country. Reaching out is a brave and kind thing to do for yourself.
Who Can Use WavyWays
You need to be at least 16 years old to use WavyWays. Because of the personal subject matter, the app isn't directed to anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly create accounts for them.
Depending on where you live, you may need to be older still, or have a parent or guardian's permission — please follow the rules that apply where you are. By using WavyWays, you're telling us you meet the age requirement and that you're allowed to use the app in your country.
Your Account
To use most of WavyWays, you sign in with your email, with Google, or with Apple — whichever you prefer. However you sign in, your credentials stay with that provider — we never see or store your password. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what we do receive when you sign in.
Please keep your sign-in details safe. Activity that happens through your account is treated as yours, so look after access to it the way you would any other personal account.
By creating an account, you agree that we may send you essential messages about the service — things like security notices and important changes to these Terms or the app. These aren't marketing; they're part of running WavyWays responsibly.
Your Privacy
Your privacy matters to us deeply, especially here. How we collect, use, and protect your information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using WavyWays, you also agree to that policy, so it's worth a read.
In short: your private writing is yours, we never sell your data or share it with advertisers, and we never use the content of your logs to profile you or train AI models.
Reminders and Device Permissions
If you turn them on, WavyWays sends gentle push notifications — like a daily-task nudge or a note before your trial ends. You can turn these off at any time in your device or app settings; some reminders simply won't reach you if you do.
WavyWays may also ask for permission to use your camera or photo library, so you can attach a photo to a food log if you'd like to. You're always in control of these permissions, and you can change them whenever you want. WavyWays does not collect your location.
Your License to Use WavyWays
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use WavyWays for your own personal, non-commercial wellbeing. That's what the app is for.
WavyWays — its name, logo, illustrations, mascots, sounds, content, and software — belongs to us or our licensors, and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Aside from the limited license above, these Terms don't give you any rights to our brand or our work.
Things Not to Do
WavyWays is a quiet, kind space, and we want to keep it that way. Please don't:
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the app;
- scrape, harvest, or use automated tools to access the app or its data;
- upload or transmit anything harmful, malicious, or destructive;
- try to bypass, disable, or interfere with the app's security or access limits;
- use WavyWays in a way that breaks the law or harms another person; or
- rely on WavyWays as a medical service or as help in an emergency — it isn't built for that (please see “What WavyWays Is — and What It Isn't” above).
Pearls and Your Progress
As you complete tasks, WavyWays rewards you with Pearls and things like streaks and achievements. These are part of the experience — a way to mark your journey.
Pearls are earned inside the app, not bought with money, and they have no cash value. They aren't real currency, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be transferred or cashed out. Your Pearls, progress, and achievements live in your account, and they're gone if you delete it.
Trial, Subscriptions, and Payment
WavyWays includes free access for a limited trial period when you start out. After that, continuing with the full experience needs a paid subscription.
Billing runs through the stores. Subscriptions are sold and billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, under the terms shown at checkout. We never see or store your card or billing details — the store handles all of that.
- Renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel, generally at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings, not inside WavyWays.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store you bought through, under that store's policy. Where the law where you live gives you additional rights — such as an EU/UK cooling-off or withdrawal right — those rights still apply.
If pricing or trial terms change in the future, we'll show the current terms clearly before you subscribe.
Your Content Stays Yours
The words you write, the moods you log, the photos you attach — everything you record in WavyWays (“your content”) belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of it.
We only use your content to run the app for you — to save your reflections and show them back — as described in the Privacy Policy. To do that, you give us permission to store and display your content within your own account. That's the extent of it: we don't use it to advertise to you, profile you, or train AI models.
You're responsible for what you choose to record. Please only add content you have the right to add.
Deleting Your Account
You can leave whenever you want. Delete your account right inside the app — Settings → Delete account — and we'll permanently remove your user-owned data, as described in the Privacy Policy. The only things we keep are anonymous, aggregate information that's no longer tied to you, and any records the law requires us to retain. Once deleted, your data can't be recovered, so please be sure.
We hope it never comes to this, but we may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms — for example, by trying to break the app's security or harm other people.
Changes to the App
WavyWays is growing. We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may pause or stop parts of the service. We'll try to do this thoughtfully, and to let you know about significant changes. We can't promise the app will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
WavyWays Is Offered “As Is”
We care about WavyWays and work to make it calm, safe, and reliable. But to the extent the law allows, WavyWays is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the app will always work perfectly, be uninterrupted or secure, or be free of errors — and, as above, WavyWays makes no medical or treatment promises.
Nothing in these Terms takes away rights that the law where you live gives you as a consumer and can't be waived. Where a warranty can't legally be excluded, this section applies only as far as the law permits.
Limits on Our Responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, WavyWays and the people who build it won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the app.
Again, this doesn't limit any liability that can't be limited under the law where you live, including for things like death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
A Fair Balance
If someone else brings a claim against us because of how you used WavyWays — for example, because you broke these Terms or the law, or harmed someone else — you agree to reasonably cover the costs we face as a result, to the extent the law allows. This is standard for apps, and in practice it just means each of us takes responsibility for our own actions.
Services We Rely On
WavyWays is built on a few trusted third-party services — such as Google (including Firebase and Google Sign-In), the Apple App Store and Google Play, and our subscription provider — that are essential to how the app works. We choose these providers carefully, but we don't control them, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to their part of the service.
The Law That Governs These Terms
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where WavyWays is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, that right still stands, and your mandatory consumer-protection rights are unaffected.
A Few Practical Points
- Severability. If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- Force majeure. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by things beyond our reasonable control.
- Assignment. We may transfer these Terms if our business is ever reorganized; you can't transfer your side without our consent.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about using WavyWays.
- Waiver. If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, that doesn't mean we've given up the right to enforce it later.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as WavyWays grows or the law changes. If we make a significant change, we'll let you know in the app or by another reasonable means. Continuing to use WavyWays after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, so please check back now and then.
